Testing

Testing laps can be used to improve drivers abilities and to improve Chassis research. You can test at any race track on the calendar, or even your own personal test track if you have one!

Test tracks

A test track will increase the number of laps you can perform in testing. You do not have to perform these additional laps at your test track, you can do them at any track.
The number of laps you'll have at your disposal is as follows:

Driver Motivation

Watch out! Using a race driver to perform testing laps can be extremely detrimental to his motivation! Why not hire an exclusive test driver to do testing for you? His motivation won't drop (only drivers who have raced in a GP in the current season lose motivation) but his stats will improve, perhaps you can promote him to a race driver one day? This is a particulary effective techinque for building up young drivers.

Improving chassis, advanced technologies & components

Every time you do testing laps, you can specify a development to work on. This can be extremely helpful to the development process, especially when you build a test track, so use your laps wisely.
The performance you'll gain from these tests is dependent on the quality of your design & technical department (for chassis & advanced tech development) or your engine department (for engine developments).
